Hardcopy of The Club Newsletter To Be Discontinued…
As mentioned last month, the Board of Directors has decided that beginning September 1, 2006, Club Members would no longer receive a hardcopy of the Newsletter, unless you specifically request one. To continue to receive your Newsletter through the mail after September 1, contact Bob Williams at (650)-964-1280 or send him a note at 418 Deodara Drive, Los Altos, 94024, stating that you would like a hardcopy each month. The Newsletter will be available on our web site monthly.
The Club Championships will be played on June 5, 12, and 19. Players who desire to compete for the Club Championships and daily sweeps are reminded to record a “T” score in the computer on each day of play and are required to play all three rounds to be eligible for Club Championship. However, sweeps monies will be awarded for each day of play.
For those foursomes playing on Monday/Thursday tournaments, please remember to write your finishing time on one member’s scorecard. Please use the clock next to the 18th Green to determine your time. Also, the Tee Time Committee is in the process of determining Participation Factors (PF) for each foursome. These PF percentages will be posted with the July Tee Sheet and can be found on the bulletin board at Shoreline or on our web site.
George Kimball, a long time Shoreline senior, was born in Richmond Hill, New York, and went to Dartmouth College. During World War 11, he graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy and won a commission in the Navy where he served three and a half years. In the Pacific theatre, he saw duty on an attack transport and took part in five major engagements. He met his wife, Roberta, in San Francisco and they were married in Carmel in 1945. They have two sons. The Kimball’s have lived in Los Altos for fifty years. George spent a long career in the life insurance business and has kept in shape with golf and tennis. He boasts one hole in one - in Hawaii where son Alan lives.
Also, Joe needs about 20-30 volunteers on Thursday, June 29, for the USKids Northern California Championship. This day will start about mid-day and will last until about 6pm. These volunteers will help keep score, escort juniors on the course, check-in players, marshaling and starting the players. If you can assist with this junior event, contact Joe DeBode at 650-903-6135.
In addition to volunteering for a worthy cause, everyone has a great time working with the kids.
