September 17th Annual Meeting, Elections and
Golf…
Our traditional Annual Meeting where directors are elected is fast approaching. As in the past, our day begins with 7:00AM coffee and pastry at Michael’s, as well as voting for Directors, followed by a shotgun start at 7:30AM. The tournament is Better Ball Foursome with foursomes arranged by the Club. Following golf, we will have our usual luncheon with door prizes awarded to lucky golfers and the announcement of new Board Members for 2008. The deadline for sign-ups is September 10th. An entry form can be found at the end of this Newsletter.
The nominees for the Board of Directors are Sid Cantwell, Harry Emerzian, Syed Hyder, Tom McCarthy, and OJ Pilcher. The full slate of candidates will be listed again in the September 2007 Newsletter. Please be prepared to vote for four (4) directors during our meeting.
This month kicks off the second half of 2007 and the weather has been fantastic particularly as you view the heat of the Midwest and east coast, and the torrential rains and floods in Texas and the Southwest.. This is why we pay these big prices in California.. OJ has been running those Monday tournaments like clockwork and the play in the month of June determined our Flight champions and Club champs. The participants played on June 4,11, and 18.. The winners were----
Flight #1---Herb Dessling .. 212 net
Flight #2---Stan Peters 209 net
Flight #3---John Pendleton 206 net
Flight #4---Ernie Wong 214 net
Club Champion (Low Gross) ---Herb
Dessling….230
Club Champion (Low Net)------John
Pendleton...206
Our congratulations to these stellar players. Your individual plaques will be awarded to you at the Annual meeting in September!
We welcome a new member to our club. His name is John Gannon .He is retired from the world of high tech and served as President and CEO of Quantum for the last 5 years. He lives in Los Altos with his wife. They have 2 grown children. John received a Bachelors of Science degree from the United States Air Force Academy and then served 6 years of active duty followed by 17 years in the Reserve. John is now ready to pick up his clubs and return to the game he loves. His phone number is 650-559-1759. Give him a call to fill in your foursome.
And speaking of membership, did you know that our club is made up of 2 members in their 50’s, 49 members in their 60’s, 85 members in their 70’s, and 35 members in their 80’s??(we all hope to be like our 2 members in their 90’s). Why do I mention this?? Because projecting ahead 10 years the 50 and 60-year-old players will replace the present 70 and 80-year-old players and at present there are only 51 of these guys to replace 120 of the 70-80 group. We need to pick up the pace in the recruitment of new members....Any ideas??
In conclusion – Anonymous says-“ an interesting thing about golf is that no matter how badly you play, it is always possible to get worse”… Have a nice round…

Thank you to the Shoreline Seniors, Shoreline Women’s, Shoreline Golf and Eagles Golf Clubs for assisting with the Shoreline Junior Classic Tournament either through providing funding for trophies and/or volunteering to work the event. The tournament was a big success with over 230 youth participating. We have received many positive comments from participants and parents and appreciate the clubs’ support
Tee Rebuilding at #16
Work continues at the 16th tee. We hope to have the new tees available for use by the City Championship.
New Item in Pro Shop
Check out the new Chromax Balls. The Chromax balls use the
same technology as the very popular Volvik colored balls (a clear, non-colored
cover over a colored core) but the Chromax balls have a new and unique colored
core done in both chrome and metal flake colors. The balls are very colorful
and shiny and are very popular.
