The Nineteenth Hole…by Mike Anderson

Hello to the month of June and goodbye to the Coots. But in case you miss them too much, be happy because the Geese have been busy propagating and now you can enjoy the army of tiny goslings that are marching and swimming in clusters.  The Course is a veritable aviary! The quarterly Board Meeting took place a week ago. What was discussed and decided you ask?. Well, to summarize- we’ve got too much money in the bank account, membership is not growing, only 19 members are asking for this Newsletter to be mailed to them, (everyone else gets it electronically), the Web site is continually being enhanced thanks to web master Syed Hyder, Demo Day was a big success with $47,000 of sales recorded, and if you want to be the Club Champ (Low Net) you better be ready to play all 3 days of the 3 rounds (June 4, 11, and 18).  (That’s a two hour meeting in a nutshell)

And this month’s Pro Profile—one of our fabulous Shoreline Professionals is Bill Mykytka. He’s greeting you in the morning, and teaching you how in the afternoon. Bill went into the Golfing business 6 years ago after running a computer consulting business, which he grew into a very successful and profitable company. Bill then decided, after experiencing the early death of his Dad, to follow his passion for golf and make it his career. Bill is a PGA member and a Class A pro. Bill is married and his ultimate goal is to enjoy life and travel.   Bill thanks for being a part of our club’s Pro Shop.

The new 2007 US Kids Clubs are currently available  --  new colors and types.

US Kids Qualifying Tournament

A US Kids Qualifying Tournament will be held Thursday, June 21 at Shoreline Golf Links. We expect approximately 80 players aged 12 and under to register for the event.  Cost is $45 for the nine hole event and $60 for the 18 hole event and includes greens fee, balls, towels and bag tags.

Shoreline Jr. Classic

The Shoreline Jr. Classic will be held on Friday, June 29th.  We expect approximately 240 players ages 17 and under to register for the event.  Cost is $30 and includes greens fee, lunch, tee prizes and trophies.

Project for #16 Tees

A project to improve #16 tees will begin during the second week of June.  The area from the trees to the right of the 15th green to the beginning of the fairway will be filled with dirt, new, larger tee pods will be constructed and a new cart path installed. There will be a temporary tee pod approximately 50 yards short of the beginning of the fairway.

Joe DeBode is looking for a few good Volunteers…

Once again Joe is looking for volunteers to help with two junior golf tournaments to be held on June 21 and June 29.  Volunteers will help with scoring, escorting juniors on the course, check-in, marshaling and starting the players. You will be asked to work in shifts of about 4-6 hours. If you can assist with these junior events, please contact Joe DeBode at 650-903-6135.
