The Board Meeting was called to order at
John Gannon, Vice President, was called upon to share his thoughts of our meeting decorum. He felt that our meetings had a tendency to become somewhat disorganized due to multiple conversations occurring at the same time, often on divergent subjects. He urged observance of Roberts Rules of Order which requires recognition of a member before that person speaks, and that each member respect the individual speaking and then awaiting recognition from the Chairperson before expressing another thought or idea. This evoked expressions of agreement from the members.
Harry Emerzian distributed minutes of the Greens Committee recent meeting. He stated that there still was no decision made as to the water holes. (to be or not to be, that is the question). He believes that the water will just evaporate and the coots and geese will leave . He pointed out that all the sand traps would soon have sand.. And the following Saturday would feature Demo Day.
Dave Collins, Tournament Chair, pointed out that 60% of the members play on Monday. (74) On Wednesday there are usually 21 to 24 playing. He has posted a publication entitled “Conditions of Competition” and suggested we check it on our website. He went on to explain the “Temporary Obstruction” local rule. This is not found on the scorecard itself and after listening carefully to the explanation I find I am not qualified to replicate it in these minutes. See Dave.
Wilson Fong reported no changes relative to the Greeters program .That spot, as people check in each Monday, has been adequately manned. (I can say “manned” without being politically incorrect as we have at this time no women members. If we did, I suppose I’d have to say “womanned “and that sounds awkward.)
Hideo Hashimoto asked the Boards opinion on sending out the Shoreline newsletter to each member by mail. He suggested that we do so to when the annual membership list goes out, as well as Member/Guest Day, and for the Membership meeting announcement. There are 136 members and each mailing costs approximately $100.
A motion was made and the Board approved the motion that all Newsletter be mailed out to all members.
Ted Roshinski provided to all members his current Club balance sheet and budget. His future projections indicate that this coming year could occasion a shortfall from the previous years budget..After much discussion, it was finally decided that the annual luncheon provided to the Board members would be canceled thus saving a $200 + expense and that we would increase income by charging an additional $5. to all members attending the annual membership/election luncheon This was approved by Board vote.
Finally, John Gannon was asked to create a Nominating committee made up of 5 members not currently on the Board. They are to come up with a roster of 5 nominees with 4 actually being elected by the membership
That being the final item of business before the Board, a
motion was made and accepted that we adjourn the meeting. This was done at
Respectfully Submitted,
Michael Anderson, Secretary
