From Our Social Chairman

Well, for those who missed it, the 20th Dinner Dance was one of our best. Dennis White’s Trio had the dance floor full all evening, and this plus an excellent dinner by Michael’s made the Valentine’s get together a most congenial party. Our next affair is the Member Guest Golf Tournament and BBQ held on June 29th, so  mark your calendar. The sign-up sheet is included in this newsletter. Congrats to Frank Frankhauser for a job well done!

Demo Day

Saturday April 18th will be Demo Day at Shoreline Golf Links. Up to 15 vendors will be presenting their 2009 golf clubs to  be tested and demonstrated by you. Vendors include, Nike, Titleist, Taylor Made, Ping, Cobra, Tour Edge, Callaway, Mizuno, Bridgestone, Adams, U.S. Kids Clubs and more. Also, the Cleveland Tour Fitting Van will be on site so you can get your clubs the same day.

Demo Day will be from 10am-4pm. Special discount prices on most in-stock and custom orders.

Only In Golf

Only in golf do you find the players in front of you are slow and the players in back of you very fast.

Poppy Hills Tournament

The Poppy Hills Tournament arranged and managed by Hideo Hashimoto filled very quickly as soon as it was announced. Thirty six players are scheduled and there are some on stand-by as alternates.

Superintendant’s Update

By the time that you receive this newsletter you will have seen that the tee areas have been aerated, also the greens are scheduled for March 31 and April 1. If rain occurs on the week of planned aeration it will be postponed for a week. Holes #1, #3, #4, #9, #10 and #11 will be aerated and seededpp in the middle to end of April. English daisies will be sprayed throughout the course once we get warmer weather. (mid to upper 70’s.)

The Board of Directors will meet at the Shoreline Golf Club conference room on Thursday April 16th at 9:30 am. Members are invited to attend.

Oop’s Sorry

When presenting the names of the Board of Directors for the year of 2009 I missed the name of Frank Ruccolo. Frank was elected last year and will serve through 2011.

To Interested Golfers… Villa Siena Fundraiser

The ninth annual Villa Siena Foundation golf tournament will be held at Shoreline Golf Links on Friday, May 15, followed by a dinner. More About Geese

It was mentioned in the previous newsletter that classes were to be held in January on how to properly addle the eggs of geese with corn oil. About thirteen people showed up to learn the procedure and they will start the program at the time when the eggs are laid.

While Roy Day Shoreline Golf Links Golf Professional was being honored at the PGA Merchandise Show by US Kids Golf as a Top 50 Junior Golf Instructor. He was able to have his picture taken with Lorena Ochoa the number one LPGA player.
